James Earl Hargis, 61, of Marble, Arkansas, died January 6, 2012 at Huntsville, Arkansas. He was born October 27, 1950 at Prairie Grove, Arkansas, the son of Willis Perry and Beatrice Velma Bolinger Hargis. He was a farmer, a logger and a deacon at the Marble United Baptist Church. One thing he truly enjoyed was driving his race car. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother-in-law, Harold Henry DuVall.
Survivors include: his wife of forty-three years, Rita Diann Ferguson Hargis of the home; one son, James Michael Hargis of Marble, Arkansas; two daughters and one son-in-law, Jamie Michelle Yarbrough of Marble, Arkansas and Jessica Megan and Craig Steven Villines of Mullins, South Carolina; his mother, Beatrice Hargis of Marble, Arkansas; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Freddie Wayne Hargis of Marble, Arkansas, Edward Bolinger Hargis of Miami, Florida and Jerry O'Dean and Kay Hargis of Huntsville, Arkansas; one sister, Mary Ellen DuVall of Marble, Arkansas; three grandsons, James Chander Hargis and Kenton Cole Yarbrough, both of Marble, Arkansas and Owen Taggard Villines of Mullins, South Carolina; four granddaughters, Courtney Brook Yarbrough and Laken Shelbie Yarbrough, both of Marble, Arkansas, Emily Ann Nicole Hargis of Huntsville, Arkansas and Lainey Susanne Villines of Mullins, South Carolina and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A. M. Tuesday, January 10, in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with The Reverends Alvin Reynolds and Craig Villines officiating. Interment will be in the Huntsville Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home www.brashearsfuneralhome.net of Huntsville, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be: Brent Hargis, Jerod Hargis, Aaron Hargis, Dusty Hargis, Jason Hargis and Kenny Yarbrough. Honorary pallbearers will be: Bub Houston, Max Bolinger, Bill McMillan, David Meyers, Brad Holt, Martin Sims, Brad Hathorn and Harlan Houston. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P. M. to 8:00 P. M. on Monday at the funeral home.
