Ariel Elizabeth Utt Landrus of Calico Rock, Arkansas
Ariel Elizabeth Utt Landrus, daughter of the late Howard Ernest Utt and Mary Ella Rawls Utt, was born February 1, 1936 in San Diego, California. She departed this life April 21, 2014 in Washington, D. C. At the age of 78 years, 2 months and 20 days. She spent her life as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, homemaker and friend. While living in Indiana she worked as a legal secretary and manager at a phone company. After retiring from the telephone company, she moved to Calico Rock and was united in marriage to James Landrus. She went on to attend the University of Arkansas and earn a teaching degree and taught kindergarten in Norfork. She was of the Presbyterian faith and a member of the Calico Rock Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by four sons and two daughters-in-law: Jim Covalt of Coatsville, Indiana, David Covalt of Danville, Indiania, Allan and Mary Beth Schultz Gordus of Washington, D.C., Andrew and Angelica Gordus of Portsmouth, Virginia; four stepchildren: Frank and Linda Landrus of Burleson, Texas, Michael and Susan Landurs of Austin, Texas, Linda and Keith Lauter of Indianapolis, Indiana and Kurt and Elena Landrus of Warrenton, Virginia; one brother John Utt of Jordan, Arkansas; one sister Jerrie Gordon of Pineville, Arkansas; thirteen grandchildren: Alyssa Landrus, Amanda Landrus, Araceli Gordus, Azucena Gordus, Andres Gordus, Anna Gordus, Mara Gordus, Kelsey Lauter, Sandy Lauter, Shelby Lauter, Kristin Covalt, David Covalt, Anastasia Landrus; one great grandchild and a host of other relatives and many good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother: Howard Ernest Utt.
Funeral service will be Saturday, April 26 at 2:00 p.m. at Calico Rock Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Wayne Wood officiating . Burial will be at Galatia Cemetery under the direction of Eddie’s Family Funeral Home in Calico Rock. Visitation will be Friday, April 25 from 6-8 p.m.
