Doyle Evans Coles, 79, of Batesville died Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at White River Medical Center.
He was born Wednesday, August 28, 1929 in Sandtown, Arkansas and was the son of William and Annie (Gaines) Coles. Mr. Coles was a carpenter and retired from Beverly’s Construction Company. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, fishing, gardening, building cabinets and other types of woodworking.
Survivors include his wife, Muriel (Palmer) Coles of Batesville; one daughter, Marilyn Cherry and her husband, Kevin of Batesville; one son, Brian Coles and his wife, Lisa of Cave City; two granddaughters: Brianna and Whitney Coles; three grandsons: Dylan Coles, Kendall and Kyle Cherry; two sisters; Winnie Grace Johnson and Mary Ann Matthews both of Batesville; and two brothers: Elisha Coles of Batesville and Lavaughn “Shorty” Coles of Desha.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Conway Coles, Alton Coles, Albert Coles, Coy Coles, Troy Coles, Alvin Coles, Preston Coles and Albro Coles.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Roller-Crouch Chapel. Burial will follow the services at Lee’s Chapel Cemetery at Sandtown under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Roger Coles, Randy Coles, Ricky Coles, Kevin Coles, Robert Martin and Johnny Beard. Honorary pallbearers are J. D. Cossey, Noel Mahan, Dr. Thomas Cummins and Charlie Reynolds.
