SPRINGDALE— Mary "Joan" Myers, 66, of Springdale, Ark., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011, at the Circle of Life Hospice House in Springdale.

Joan was born on June 25, 1945, in Wichita, Kan., a daughter of Earl J. Sanderson and Mary Lucille (Osborn) Sanderson. She worked as a school teacher in Wichita, Kan., and married George H. Myers on Oct. 5, 1963 in Goddard, Kan. She enjoyed crafts of all kinds and was a member of Astounding Grace Church in Hindsville, Ark.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her daughter, Trena Jo Myers.

Joan is survived by her husband, George "Cork" Myers of the home; three sons, Kevin Myers, Marcus Myers and Jeremy Myers, all of Springdale, Ark.; two grandchildren; three siblings, Earl Sanderson, Faye Walters and Don Sanderson; her father- and mother in-law, Joe and Dorothy Myers; and a host of friends, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Aug. 8, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the Astounding Grace Church in Hindsville, with Pastor Butch Bollinger officiating. Committal service to follow at Sonora Cemetery.

Visitation will be held 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral home. Please visit www.backstrom-pyeatte.com to sign an online guest book.
