COLEY, John J. - Funeral services were held at the Centerton M. E. Church yesterday afternoon for J. J. Coley of Van Buren, who died Tuesday in a Ft. Buren, in a fall a week ago. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. R. S. Hayden, Pastor of the M. E. Church, South of Bentonville, and Rev. C. W. Good, pastor of the M. E. Church at Alma. Burial was made by the side of his wife in the Centerton cemetery. Mrs. Coley died a few years ago and since then he had made his home with his daughter, Mrs. John G. Womack, wife of the pastor of the First M. E. Church, South in Van Buren. Mr. Coley was born in Hernando, Miss. Nov. 3, 1848. His parents moved to Mineral Springs, in Howard County, Ark., where he grew to manhood. He served in the Confederate Army under Gen. Joe Johnson during the Civil War, taking part in nine major battles, mostly in Tennessee. He was left on the battlefield at Franklin, Tenn., where he was shot three times. Following the war he moved to Benton County where he spent about 50 years of his life. He was married in Bentonville, and had lived in Centerton, Rogers, as well as Bentonville. Mrs. Womack is his only child.

COLEY, Mrs. John - {from Droke} Mrs. John Coley, formerly a resident of this community, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Womack, in Fayetteville Saturday. Burial was made at Centerton Sunday afternoon.
