Charles John Cogburn, 71, died at Conway Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family on June 3, 2009. He was born July 27, 1937 in Ector County Texas. Charles joined the United States Air Force on January 31, 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1963. Charles attended Arkansas State Teachers College and Chico State College in California. He graduated from Chico with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1965. Charles retired in 1994 from Johnson & Johnson, Inc. and started his own consulting business, Engineering Associates, Inc.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert (Levi) and Edith (Jackie) Cogburn of Conway, a brother, Kenneth Cogburn, of Conway, and a grandson, Joshawa Cogburn, of Conway.

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Nancy Cogburn; two sons, Lee Cogburn of Conway and Clint (Penny) Cogburn of Pottsboro, Texas; one daughter, Rhonda Cogburn of Morrilton; two stepsons, Wayne (Vicky) Evans of Wooster and Larry (Carla) Evans of Conway; three brothers, Bob Cogburn of Dennison, TX, Rodney Cogburn and wife Cile of Reno, NV, and Dr. Danny Cogburn of Yellville, AR; 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and his mother-in-law, Eva Dean Fulmer, of Conway.

Charles was a Christian and a proud member of the First Presbyterian Church in Conway.

Interment will be 10:00 AM Sunday at Round Mountain Cemetery with military honors by the Little Rock Air Force Base Honor Guard and Conway’s VFW Post #2259 Honor Gurad. A memorial service will follow 2:30 PM at the First Presbyterian Church of Conway with Rev. Ken Upham and James Lane officiating.

Visitation will be Saturday 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway.

Pallbearers are Lee, CJ, Chris and Clint Cogburn; Wayne, Will, Larry, and Jake Evans. Honorary Pallbearers are his co-workers and colleagues through the years.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial gifts to the American Cancer Society or the First Presbyterian Church of Conway, Arkansas.
