Roy Parton, age 81 of Gassville, passed away Friday, January 24, 2014 at his home. He was born June 8, 1932 in Baxter County to John Calvin and Bertha (Rail) Parton. Before retirement, he worked for Guy King and Sons of over 55 years as a heavy equipment operator. He married Wanda Utchman in Mountain Home on September 17, 1972. He was an avid coon and rabbit hunter, and loved the sound of his dogs. He was also a member of the Iuka Church of Christ.
Roy Parton is survived by his wife Wanda, a step son and his wife, Jeff and Linda Harris of San Angelo, Texas, daughters Rebecca Parton of Viola, and Jennifer Dreyer and husband Gary of Clarkridge, a step daughter Teresa Wiard of Mountain Home, a step daughter in law Tina Harris of Mountain Home, grandchildren Melissa Brandenburg, Charlie Wray, Brittney Blair, Travis Wiard, Jake Harris, Josh Harris, Nathan Harris and Hannah DeLoy, 10 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Clementine Parton, Buleah Devolt, Lula Mae Johnson, a brother Raymond Parton, a step son Chuck Harris, and his first wife Delores (Britt) Parton.
A Graveside Funeral Service will be held Sunday, January 26, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Lower Oakland Cemetery in Mountain Home. Visitation will be held Saturday, January 25, 2014 from Noon until 9:00 PM, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Roller Funeral Home. Memorial donations made to Children's Home, Inc. of Paragould, Arkansas or the Humane Society of North Central Arkansas. Arrangements are by Roller Funeral Home.
