C. S. Hanks Dies; Burial Mt. Olive

C. S. Hanks born at Mount Olive, Arkansas, October 5, 1899 son of Roland and Jennie Hanks, died at Kennedy Veterans' Hospital Memphis, Tennessee September 23, 1956 aged 56 years, 11 months and 18 days.
He is survived by his wife Mrs Zella Roe Benbrook Hanks whom he married on December 21, 1921 at Calico Rock, Arkansas.
The three sons who were born to this union are; Roy B. of Grandview, Mo.; Eugene H. of Centerville, La., and Ernest L. of Greely, Colo.
One brother, Ray H. Hanks, Williams, Arz.; Eight sisters; Mesdames Bertie McGinnis and Lena Combs of Kansas City, Mo.; Mesdames Alma Houston and Jeffery Harris of Paragould, Ark., Mrs Bessie Hayden of Batesville, Ark., Mrs Nina M. Steinert, Chicago, Ill.; Mesdames Jessamine and Ernestine Jeffery of Mount Olive, Ark., and a host of other relatives and friends who mourn his passing.
He was received into the Presbyterian Church at Mt. Olive on November 30, 1913. and continued in Christian living the remainder of his life.
A veteran of World War I Mr Hanks served in the Second Marine Division at Paris Island, S. C. from August 27, 1918 till April 29, 1919.
Most of his life was spent at Mount Olive and Calico Rock where he was engaged in farming and stock raising. His death occurred while being treated at Kennedy Hospital upon returning for treatment for complications arising following a lobotomy performed during March of this year. Funeral services was in charge of Hall Funeral Home and held in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church at Mt. Olive, conducted by the Rev. Casteel of the Calico Rock Methodist Church and Rev. Chestnut of the Calico Rock Presbyterian Church at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. Burial was in the Hill Top Cemetery at Mount Olive.
