Dale A. Pittman, age 74 of Carl Junction, Mo., formerly of Springdale and Prescott, Ariz., passed away at 8:40 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, 2006, at his home.
Born March 18, 1932, in Coolidge, Ariz., he was the son of Allison (Al) Lee Pittman and Effie Maude Brown Pittman and had lived in Carl Junction since 2003, moving from Springdale where he had lived since 1979.
He served in the Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Boxer. He then worked for the Arizona Game and Fish while at Prescott. A longtime rancher, he worked as a cowboy on the range in Arizona and later farmed in Arkansas. In 1993 he retired from Case Equipment Co. with 26 years of service. He was a past member of Robinson Avenue Church of Christ in Springdale and a current member of Mount Hope Church of Christ in Webb City, Mo. He was also a member of the Red Angus Association.
On July 19, 1955, he married Joyce J. Cates in Prescott. She survives.
Additional survivors include three sons, Thomas Pittman and wife Karen of Springdale, Frank Pittman and wife Christy of Carl Junction, Clifford Pittman and wife Christi of Springdale; a daughter, Shirley Ann Murphy and husband Jeff of Tontitown; a sister, Ava B. Crawford of Blythe, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14, at Friendship Cemetery in Springdale with Harry Fitzgerald, minister officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Aaron Pittman, Cameron Pittman, Chad Murphy, Keegan Pittman and Christian Pittman; a son-in-law, Jeff Murphy and a grandson-in-law, Scott Galloway. The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday at Parker Mortuary in Joplin. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
