Helen Ann Mankin Brooks of Melbourne, Arkansas
Helen Ann Mankin Brooks, daughter of the late Julius Mankin and Stella Shannon Mankin, was born August 4, 1924 in Lunenburg, Arkansas. She departed this life March 9, 2014 in Batesville, Arkansas at the age of 89 years, 7 months and 5 days. She was united in marriage to Elmer Bud Brooks on August 22, 1942 in Gid, Arkansas. She spent her life as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, homemaker and friend. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant, Arkansas.
She is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law: Sonny and Phyllis Brooks of Melbourne and Rick and Karen Brooks of Searcy; one daughter: Cheryl Brooks Shaver of Melbourne; one sister: Betty Wiles of Greenbriar, Arkansas; eight grandchildren: Kim Lovelace, Sean Brooks, Bradley Brooks, Shannon Brooks Haney, Clan Weatherford, Angela Pepin, ALarra Hunt and Aaron Brooks; 17 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and many good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one infant daughter; two brothers: Leslie Mankin and Garland Mankin; one infant brother; two sisters: Leeda ONeal and Emma Byler and one infant sister.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, March 11 at 2:00 p.m. at Howard Memorial Chapel with Elvis Sneathern, Bryan McMorris and Rick Brooks officiating. Burial will be at Reeves Cemetery under the direction of Eddies Family Funeral Home in Melbourne. Visitation will be Monday, March 10 from 6-8 p.m.
Pallbeaers: Sean Brooks, Bradley Brooks, Aaron Brooks, Randell Lovelace, Clan Weatherford and Daniel Haney.
Honorary Pallbearer: Doyle Love.
