Obituary
Funeral services for Cleo A. Taylor, 79, of 5303 Trammell Drive, Jonesboro, who died Wednesday at St. Bernard's Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. today at Emerson Funeral Home's Memorial Chapel, with Jimmy Adcox and E. Winston Burton officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Bud Hall, George Williams, Roy Barnhill, Gene May, Phil Burton, Richard Jarrett, Frank Cole and Frank Oldham.

Honorary pallbearers will include Frank Mitchell, Lee Hummelstein, Dick Steele, Jim Walley, Alexander Marconi, Melvin Womack, Joe Gurnard, Gene Dowdy, Bob Riley, Dr. Templeton, Jason Casey, Steve Woodruff, John Miller, Milford Williams and Tex Sloan.

Taylor lived in Melbourne before moving to Jonesboro where he lived most of his life. He served 20 years in the U.S. Army Medical Corps where he attained the rank of captain. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War and was a member of Southwest Church of Christ.

A graduate of Arkansas State University, he was employed by General Electric of Jonesboro. While living in Melbourne, he served as mayor, operated M and M Mercantile Store and served as a hospital administrator. He was a member of the Jonesboro Lions Club, the Greater Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce, and the Elks Lodge and was a founding member of the Northeast Arkansas Transportation Club, where he was president. While at ASU, he was a veterans' counselor.

Survivors include his wife, Joy J. Marbury Taylor of the home; one daughter, Sherrie Anthes of Jonesboro; one son, Eddie Taylor of Jonesboro; three sisters, Amanda Taylor of Eugene, Ore., and Lou Gurnard and Mary Lee Fudge, both of Wenatchee, Wash.; two brothers, Edward Taylor of Texarkana, Texas, and Royce Taylor of Wenatchee; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers.

Memorials may be made to the Southwest Church of Christ, Better Life Center, 1601 James, Jonesboro 72401 or to the Paragould Children's Home, 5515 Walcott Rd., Paragould 72450.
