Born in 1817 in Tennessee. He and his second wife were buried over 70 years ago at the Burch Crossing on the Illinois Bayou, northwest of Hector. Both died in the same week and they started to the Burch Cemetery, but the Bayou was to high to cross so they were buried near the crossing. They were the grandfather and grandmother of Clark Goates of Hector.
