Bernice Bates, 70, of Paris, Arkansas died Saturday, June 2, 2007, in Dardanelle, AR. She was born in Roseville, AR on June 29, 1936 to her parents, Mary Marie (Collier) Brown and Sam Brown, Sr. She was a homemaker, home health aide before becoming disabled and a member of Poole's Temple. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Leonard Bates; three brothers, Charles, Robert and Sam Jr. Brown; two sisters, Bobbie Jones and Betty Martin. She is survived by three daughters, Mary Schouweiler, Ester Bates and Jo Anna Bates all of Paris; six brothers, Jesse Brown of St. Louis, MO, Dennis Brown Sr. and Leonard Brown of Russellville, AR, and Virgil Brown, June Brown and Eddie Brown, Sr. of Paris; six sisters, Anna Barnes, Wanda Byrd, Nora Milum, Mary Ellingburg and Phyllis Brown of Paris and Margaret Williams of Charleston, AR; two grandchildren, Milton Brown and Malexius Richards of Paris and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral Service was held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 9, 2007 at Roller Funeral Home Chapel-Paris with burial at Gray Rock Cemetery in Gray Rock, Arkansas with the Rev. Danny Hull and Elder Jordan, Officiating.
Pallbearers: Gavin Ludgood, John Harris, Jacob Woods, Toby Woods, Shawn Ellingburg, Justin Fergerson. Honorary Pallbearers: David Brown, Dennis Brown, Jr., Chris Lane.
