Jimmie L. Higgins, 71, of Hot Springs, died Thursday (Oct. 4, 2007) in a Little Rock hospital.

Born Feb. 26, 1936, in Vilonia to Otis and Catherine Hoffman Higgins, he was retired from the U. S. Army Corp of Engineer, an active member of Piney Grove United Methodist Church and choir, participant of the Emmaus Walk and a regular blood donor. He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Victor Higgins, granddaughter; Maggie Joelle Higgins, great-grandson Danny Allen Bell.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Allen and Charlotte Higgins of Wilson, Jackie and Dianna Higgins of Maumelle and Leonard and Rhonda Higgins of North Little Rock. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, James, David, Graeme, Matthew and Kelly Jo Higgins, Katie Fowler and Leigh Ann Bell; six great-grandchildren,Elizabeth Bell, Abigail Bell, Cecilia Higgins, Andrew Higgins, Gabriella Higgins, and William Bell; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Geraldine Higgins and Gordon and Brenda Higgins; one sister and brother-in-law, Edna and Melton Clark; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorial services are at 2 p.m, Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007, at Piney Grove United Methodist Church, 2963 Airport Road. Hot Springs, AR 71913, with the Rev. David Jones and Pastor Emeritus Larry Ferguson officiating. Interment will follow at 5 p.m. at Cypress Valley Cemetery east of Vilonia.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Piney Grove United Methodist Church.
