GARRETT, Eliza F. Caveness - Eliza F. Garrett was born Dec. 4th, 1839; died June 26, 1914, aged 74 years, 6 months and 22 days. She was married to John Caveness in 1859; to this union was born two children, Jasper F. and Willie D. Caveness. This union was short for John Caveness was killed in the Pea Ridge battle at Elkhorn Tavern in 1862. In 1866 she was married to Elisha J. Garrett and to this union was born eight children, six girls and two boys, five of whom are now living. The names of the living are Telitha Casey, Jennie Gramlin, Zonia Tuck, Elmer Garrett and Nannie Brown. Also two brothers, sixteen grandchildren and a host of other relatives. She had made her home for several years with Nannie Brown, her youngest daughter. She professed religion and joined the Missionary Baptist church when fifteen years of age and lived a consistent member until death. She loved her church and was a devoted mother, a kind neighbor, and we believe a true Christian. Delighted at all times to talk on religious topics, she often said she was tired of this life, her sufferings were so great. She had a desire to put off mortality and be at rest, which we believe she has obtained. We miss her but our loss is her eternal gain. Her remains were laid to rest to await the resurrection in the cemetery at Little Flock beside her husband, Elisha Garrett, who preceded her 21 years. A.
