Jessie Albert Scarber, age 81, of Dover, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2012.

He was born September 8, 1930, at Nuyaka, Oklahoma and moved to Hector, Arkansas in 1933, where he lived until he entered the Army. He was a Private in the Korean War until he was wounded near T-Bone Hill, Korea, in 1952. He was well respected by his fellow soldiers and often specially requested by his peers to participate on patrols due to his skills. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Military Order of the Purple Heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lou Scarber; two sisters, Vergie McGears and Freda Standridge; and a granddaughter, Candice Scarber.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Lois Warnick Scarber; a son and daughter-in-law, Tim Allen and Pam Scarber of Pottsville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Gail and Frank Bryant of Dover and Mary Coffee of Dover; and four grandsons, Josh Coffee and Jessie Coffee of Dover, Chris Scarber of Conway and Zach Vaughn of Pottsville and a brother and sister-in-law, Junior and Linda Warnick of Dover.

The funeral was held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Calvary Temple Assembly of God with the Rev. Devoe Campbell officiating. Burial with military honors provided by VFW Rogers-Rye Post 2283 was in Lane Cemetery near Dover under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
