Hazel Josephine Dwelle May of Calico Rock, Arkansas

Hazel Josephine Dwelle May, daughter of the late Charles Edward Dwelle and Willie Earnestine Arnold Dwelle, was born July 15, 1932 in Chastain, Arkansas. She departed her life February 16, 2014 in Calico Rock, Arkansas at the age of 81 years, 7 months and 1 day. She graduated from Norfork High School in 1950 as Valedictorian. She went on to attend nursing school. Unfortunately, they did not allow married students, so she chose to marry her sweetheart, Troyce May. They were united in marriage October 24, 1950 and to this union three children were born. She spent her life as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, homemaker and friend. She retired from the United States Postal Service after 33 years of employment. The last 15 she served as Postmaster for Calico Rock. She was an active member of the community. In 2012, she was presented "The Key to Calico Rock" for her dedication, involvement and community service to the city and citizens of the Calico Rock area. She was an active member of the Pleasant Valley Community Church where she played the piano.

Hazel is survived by three children: Marilyn Bagwell (Bill) of Mountain Home, Merle May (Gail) of Norfork and Melinda McCurley (Doug) of Calico Rock; one sister: Anna Kemp (George) of Old Joe; five grandchildren: Ray Bagwell of Mountain Home, Buck Bagwell of Mountain Home, Makayla Rangel (Israel) of Norfork, Brayden McCurley of Calico Rock and Brooke McCurley of Calico Rock; five great grandchildren: Trinity Bagwell , Mackenzie Rangel, Jacob Rangel, Brycen Bagwell and Joseph Rangel; sister-in-law, Joyce May of Little Rock, Arkansas; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Henry and Gladys May of Pineville, Arkansas; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Cryil and Peggy May of Wentachee, Washington; and a host of other relatives and many good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four sisters, Billie Lee Black, Hilda Rose Oldham, Sallie Katherine Malone and Ruth Earnestine Mayfield.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 18 at 2:00 p.m. at Calico Rock Funeral Chapel with Sister Monte Neal and Bro. Harry Hunter officiating. Burial will be at Galatia Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Calico Rock. Visitation will be Monday, February 17 from 6-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pleasant Valley Community Church, P O Box 415, Calico Rock AR 72519.
