Hernando - Glinna Gargus, 85, died Friday, February 20, 2009 at Baptist DeSoto Hospital in Southaven, Mississippi. She was born March 9, 1923 in Amity, Arkansas to the late Jerry and Maude Ballard Burchfield. After living in Memphis, Tennessee for 60 years, Glinna moved to Southaven, Mississippi. She was a member of Ladies of Moose and the Red Hat Society. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Fred Almand, second husband, Houston Gargus, step-daughter, Diane, two brothers and five sisters. She is survived by her children, Linda Almand Owens of Hernando, MS, Jimmy F. Almand of Memphis, TN, Randy C. Almand of Germantown, TN; step-daughter Sherre Underwood of Owensboro, KY, Step-sons, Dennis Gargus and Benjie Gargus, both of Memphis, TN, sisters, Retha Oden of Crossett, AR, Lavern Hughes of Donaldson, AR; brothers Curtis Burchfield of N. Little Rock, AR, Dee Burchfield of Proctor, AR, Dewey Burchfield of Memphis, TN; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and one great-great- grandchild. She was mom and nanny to all and will be greatly missed. Funeral Services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2009 at Moore’s Cabot Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow at Dunkard Brethren Cemetery in Austin.
