John N. Garner, aged 77, died in a Camden hospital at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday. Mr. Garner was born July 5, 1885 near Chidester, Arkansas and lived most of his life in Ouachita County, and was a retired farmer. Survivors include four sons; Henry Garner of Bearden, Thomas and Louis Garner of Camden, and Junius Garner of Fresno, California; three daughters, Mrs. Vedia Stinnett and Mrs. Allen Harrison of Camden, and Mrs. Herman Gosvenor of Prescott; 20 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Proctor Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. James K. Robken, and Rev. H. R. Nabors. Burial will be in the Chidester cemetery. Grandsons will serve as casket bearers. The body will lie in state at the funeral home until service time. (Camden News - February 28, 1963)
