Oak Bend Cemetery
Franklin County
Cemetery notes and/or description:
Also known as Old Oak Bend Cemetery, located on Hwy 96, 1/2 mile west of the Hwy 23 & 96 intersection on left side of highway. The original Oak Bend Church stood here. It is on the south side of the Hwy across from a telephone relay building on the North side of the road. A colored cemetery was south of the Hwy. Each cemetery had quite a number of stones. Vera Ryker has stated some stones were hauled away, perhaps to nearby cemeteries which are better maintained. Some of the stones have fallen over and covered by dirt, leaves and vines. The cemetery is in a grove of trees with bushes, honeysuckle and greenbriers taking over.
