Notation:
The first time I saw Rachel Turner's stone I was leaving another nearby cemetery. Her stone was outside the cemetery fence next to a trash can. Fearing the stone was to be thrown away (possibly had been replaced) I took photos to make sure this stone was not lost. When I check to verify that Rachel was indeed buried in the cemetery where the stone was found, I could not find a listing for her in the cemetery transcript. After talking to the cemetery board and caretaker, we learned that Rachel's stone had been outside the cemetery fence for the five years the caretaker had been there. Researching the cemetery transcripts for the county revealed the only Rachel Turner in Lonoke County was buried at Russ Cemetery. We then went through the legal process of getting her stone back next to her husband at Russ. When the process was complete, the caretaker of the other cemetery repaired Rachel's stone as best he could. He took her stone to Russ Cemetery and set it flat because of the brittle condition. At this time John Turners stone was off its base and was reset flat next to Rachel's.
The first three photos are at the nearby cemetery. The fourth photo is Rachel's stone after it was reset at Russ Cemetery.
