Verma Beatrice Shannon, 89, of Vilonia, passed away Friday, April 1, 2011. Born in Vilonia, AR on February 1, 1922, she was a daughter to the late John and Eva (Langford) Furgerson. Mrs. Shannon was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and a life long member of Center Point Free Will Baptist Church.

She was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Marvin Shannon and siblings: Oather Furgerson, Herbert Furgerson, Bruce Furgerson, Vera Davis, Betty Walker, Lucy Furgerson and Lorene Fowlkes.

Survivors include her children: J.C. Shannon (Pat) of El Paso, AR, Joy Watson of San Antonio, TX, Mildred Atkinson of Vilonia, AR, Lena Mansker of Star City, AR, Alice Ann Traynor (Don) of Ft. Smith, AR, Virginia Lytle (Marlin) of Hot Springs, AR, Vickie Naranjo (Rick Bowerman) of McAlester, OK and Terry Branscum (George) of Heavener, OK; eighteen grandchildren; forty-two great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
The family sends spercial thanks to Patrick and Susan Dickens for the loving care given their mother during her stay at Covenant Care.

Memorials in Mrs. Shannons's name may be made to Center Point Freewill Baptist Church.

Services will be held at 10:00 am, on Monday, April 4, 2011, at Center Point Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. Joe Engdahl and Bro. Greig Christwell officiating. Interment will follow at Cypress Valley Cemetery with her grandsons: John Shannon, Billy Shannon, Curtis Shannon, Preston Davis, Roy Branscum and Marvin Naranjo serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Sean Poe, Billy Ruhland, Roy Fuller and Chance Branscum. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Sunday at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Conway.

Marvin Malone Shannon, 88, of Vilonia died Thursday (Aug. 26, 2004) in Conway.

Born Aug. 22, 1916, in Grandbury, Texas, a son of the late Robert Columbus and Alice Azilee Moore Shannon, he was a member of the Center Point Freewill Baptist Church of Vilonia.

He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Malone Shannon; a granddaughter, Alexandria Naranjo; two sisters, Ruth Frazier and Edna Mae Fullerton; two brothers, Arvil Lee Taylor and Ronald Frazier.

Survivors are his wife, Verma Furgerson Shannon; a son, J.C. Shannon of El Paso, Ark.; seven daughters, Joy Watson of San Antonio, Texas, Mildred Atkinson, Lena Lumpkin, Vickie Naranjo, all of Vilonia, Alice Traynor of Fort Smith, Virginia Shannon of Hot Springs, and Terry Branscum of Howe, Okla.; a brother, Sammy Shannon of Vilonia; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and two stepdaughters.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Center Point Freewill Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Joe Engdahl and Bro. Sidney Sawrie. Burial will be in Cypress Valley Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. Memorials may be made to Hospice Homecare, 2225 Prince #9, Conway, Ark., 72034. www.rollermcnutt.com.

Pallbearers will be John Shannon, Curtis Shannon, Preston Davis, Roy Branscum, Marvin Naranjo and Sean Poe.
