Mrs. J. L. Rushing, well known Chidester resident, died at her home Saturday. She was the wife of Dr. J. L. Rushing, prominent Chidester physician and civic leader. Mrs. Rushing was 53. Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Edgar B. Rushing; a daughter, Mrs. Chester B. Clingan, both of Chidester; three sisters, Mrs. W. E. Rushing of Chidester; Mrs. C. H. Jones and Mrs. J. L. Hightower, both of El Dorado. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at the home in Chidester, with the Rev. H. R. Nabors and the Rev. Warren officiating. Burial in Chidester Cemetery. Active pallbearers: Jessie Lee, Reed Ledbetter, Ray Creech, J. T. Walker, Jr, Stein Epperson and Carvell Gage. Honorary pallbearers: Members of the Ouachita County Medical Association. Proctor's in charge. (camden News - February 17, 1947)
