The gravestone for M. D. Yocham is the only manufactured marker in the Cow Creek Cemetery even though there is evidence that there are around 40 graves in the cemetery. Michael DeKalb Yocham lived near Advance in Baxter County on the other side of the Buffalo River. He reportedly had told his family that he wanted to be buried in the Cow Creek Cemetery even if the only route that could be taken was by boat on the Buffalo River, and that was how his body was transported to the cemetery.
In the Yocham family section of the Genealogies of Marion County Families, it is reported that Michael DeKalb "Mike" Yocham "Served in Co. C of Elliot's AR Cavalry and applied for a pension in 1906."
