Mr. John W. Sexton, age 76, a native of Ouachita County, died Wednesday, February 1, 1956 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Judd Sexton, where he had spent the past year. He had been in bad health for several years. He was the son of a Baptist minister, the late Rev. W. J. Sexton and Mary Sexton. He married Lena Bell Clark of Fordyce, daughter of the Dallas County Sheriff of that time, at an early age and made his home in Fordyce until about a year ago. He was a Mason and a member of the Fordyce Presbyterian Church. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Carl Summers of Fordyce, one son, Thuston Sexton of Beaumont, California; two grandsons, three brothers, Sam Sexton, Springhill, La.; Judd Sexton, Stephens, and Bob Sexton of Camden; two sisters, Mrs. Monroe Campbell, Maywood, California, Mrs. Anna Johnson, Little Rock; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The funeral service was held Friday at Benton Funeral Chapel in Fordyce by Rev. Gregory. Burial was at Princeton Cemetery. (Stephens Star - February 9, 1956)
