Oba Gordan Butler, 77, of Springdale died Wednesday, Aug. 10, 1994, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Born Sept. 11, 1916, at the Graphic community near Mulberry, the son of Joe F. and Mandy Butler, he was a painter and drywall contractor. He moved to Springdale in 1933 and was a Baptist.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a member of the Zion-Oak Grange and a member of the Springdale Masonic Lodge No. 316. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed camping and the outdoors. He was the husband of Thelma L. Stamps Butler.

Survivors are three sons, Ivian J. Butler and Larry J, Butler, both of Springdale, and W. Dwayne Butler of Hindsville; three sisters, Vada Martin and Vesta Morse, both of Springdale, and Velma Sisemore of Scio, Ore.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Masonic services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sisco Chapel with Rymer Clark officiating. Burial will he in the Friendship Cemetery.

Thelma Butler, 72, of Springdale died Saturday, April 20, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rogers.

She was born Sept. 27, 1918, at Osage to Walter S. Stamps and Bitty Marrs Howerton Stamps. She was a homemaker and a member of Zion Oak Grange Club. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.

Suivivors are her husband, Oba Butler; three sons, Ivian Butler of Kennewick, Wash., Dwayne Butler of Hindsville, and Larry Butler of Springdale; three sisters, Mattie Smith of Muleshoe, Texas, and Lucy Horn and Daphney Kyle, both of Springdale; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Tuesday at Sisco Funeral Chapel, with Vivan Rhodes officiating. Burial was in Friendship Cemetery.
