Ernest A. Meister of Jonesboro departed this life Wednesday evening, Aug. 4, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro at the age of 69.
He was born Oct. 3, 1940, at Harrisburg, the son of Herman Walter Meister Sr. and Nettie Faye Newsom Meister.
Ernest married Ruby Nell Qualls on Sept. 1, 1962, and they enjoyed 48 years together.
He was a welder and pipe fitter for Chicago Bridge and Iron in Memphis for many years and was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. He enjoyed camping, deer hunting and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Helen Reeves.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Nell Meister of the home; four sons, Danny Ray Meister of West Memphis, Ernest Brian Meister of Heber Springs, Anthony Wayne Meister of Tumbling Shoals and Christopher Lee Meister of Trumann; one brother, Herman Walter Meister of Cherokee Village; one sister, June Morgan of Harrisburg; five grandchildren, Starr Denise Meister, Gregory Brian Meister, Christine Ashley Meister, Casey Michelle Meister and Amanda Earline Meister; and three great-grandchildren, Hayden Reed Talley, Caleb Dayton Talley and Isaac Landon Meister.
Pallbearers were; Larry Wright, Roy Wilson, Tommy Wilson, Mitchell Brown, Stanley Johnson and Frankie Cole.
Honorary pallbearers were; Jewel Spencer, Randall May, and Dr. Vonda Houchin and staff.
Interment was in Bolivar Cemetery near Harrisburg.
