Mrs. Bertie Harmon Curtner, of Cherry Valley, Arkansas, departed this life Saturday evening at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro at the age of 87.
She was born August 7, 1925 in DeWitt, Arkansas, the daughter of Bert Earl Harmon and Nellie Mae Ogle Harmon. Bertie was a retired nurse and was active in the American Legion Auxilary. She was of the Baptist Faith. She married N.B. "Doodle" Curtner November 1, 1989 and they just celebrated 23 years together.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Nellie Harmon; a brother, Leonard Harmon and a sister, Mary Jane Crabtree.
She is survived by her husband, N.B. Curtner of the home; two sons, Larry Lace and his wife Dorothy of Shelbyville, KY and Ronnie Lace and his wife Pam of Germantown, TN; a stepson, Norman Curtner of Jonesboro; a daughter, Carlya Sentelle and her husband Gerald of LaGrange, KY; a sister, Margaret Adams of Wynne; 17 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, at the Gregg-Weston Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisburg with Rev. Gary Powell and Rev. Glenn Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in Tyre Cemetery near Cherry Valley.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Tuesday evening, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Reddmann, Ronnie Reddmann, Buddy Gaskins, Bert Lace, Bart Lace, and Michael Sentelle. Honorary pallbearers will be Eli Lace, Teddy Lace, Wayne Ball and Ron Lace.
Those wishing to send memorials are asked to consider St. Jude's Children's Hospital, The Cherry Valley Food Bank, or Hospice.
