THOMASVILLE, Ga. — Mary Maretta Burt, 96, of Thomasville died May 2, 1995, at Hospitality Care Nursing Center in Thomasville. She was born March 7, 1899, at Little Red River in Searcy County to William Riley and Lisa Jane Coker Barnes. She was a homemaker and was a member of Temple Baptist Church of Springdale for 37 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Edward Burt, to whom she was married Dec. 27, 1920, in Copeland; one son, Daniel Buford Burt and one daughter, Lola Haynes.

Survivors include one son, John Burt of DeQuincy, La.; one daughter, Doris Raper of Thomasville; one son-in-law, Horrace Raper; two daughters-in-law, Linda Burt and Sue Burt; two sisters, Ola Scarberry of Chanute, Kan., and Myrtle Patton of Fairmount, Ind.; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Springdale with the Rev. Don Elmore officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Sonny Brandt, Fred Eberhart, Greg Lindsay, Randy Nugent, Ronnie Smith, Charles Williams and Danny Burt.
