Woody Allen Harris, 89, a resident of Russellville, died Saturday, February 18, 2012, at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center.

He was born August 5, 1922, at Pine Bluff to Oscar D. and Sarah Frances Middleton Harris. He moved to Russellville with his family in the winter of 1972 from the Watson Chapel area. He was mayor of Norristown from 1977 to 1978, prior to annexation into Russellville and served as mayor of Russellville from 1991 to 1994. While mayor of Russellville, his progressive thinking was instrumental in much of the growth we see today. He worked in the Entergy's Russellville office as District Superintendent from 1973 to 1986, and retired from Entergy after 45 years. He was a member of the Russellville Lion's Club, where he served as club president from 1981 to 1982 and was Lion of the Year in 1987. He served as Justice of the Peace for four years and was a past member of the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he was a past teacher and superintendent of young adults, served on the building committee in 1977, when the educational building was built. He was a former president of Kilowatt Credit Union and Arkansas Credit Union, was former international director of Credit Union Movement, he was the charter president of the Lion's Club at Watson Chapel, served six years on the Watson Chapel School Board from 1966 to 1972 and was a charter member of the Watson Chapel Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Saundra Hope.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Evelyn Harris of Russellville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Linda Harris of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Ron and Vikki Harris of North Little Rock; a daughter, Sharon Harris of Maumelle; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; nephew, Michael Watson of Plano, Texas; niece, Carol Barr of Russellville; and other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Stephen Davis and the Rev. Tom Walker officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.

Active pallbearers will be Bob Hope, Harold Barr, Scott Harris, Andy Harris, R. J. Hope and Michael Watson. Honorary pallbearers will be Harry Simcox, Ken New, Donny Barefield, Bob Edwards, Joe Bull, Dale Jackson, H. L. Shepherd, Cleo Simmons, Glen Kile and David Hampton.

Evelyn Faye Reed Harris, 90, of Russellville, died Friday, June 29, 2012, at Stella Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born February 24, 1922, at Pine Bluff, to Arthur Willis and Nancy Veoma Norton Reed. She retired as the Executive Director from the Board of Realtors after 10 years of service, and organized a USTA Tennis Program through the Boys and Girls Club. She was the Chambers After Hours Chairman, and responsible of securing the place for the Chamber First Friday Luncheon. She received the Russellville Citizen of the Year Award for contribution and leadership in the community, and was with her husband one of six couples that organized Watson Chapel Baptist Church in Pine Bluff. She was a volunteer with the Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. She organized and taught the Young Married Sunday School Class, and continued to teach the Young Married Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church in Russellville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Woody Allen Harris, and a daughter, Saundra Hope.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Linda Harris of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Ron and Vikki Harris of North Little Rock; a daughter, Sharon Harris of Maumelle; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, a nephew, Michael Watson of Plano, Texas, and a niece, Carol Barr of Russellville.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at the Shinn Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Stephen Davis and the Rev. Greg Sykes. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park, by Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.

Active pallbearers will be Bob Hope, Harold Barr, Scott Harris, Andy Harris, R. J. Hope and Michael Watson.
