Cecil M. Lewallen, age 78, a resident of Russellville, died Wednesday, May 8, 2002 at his home in Russellville. He was born on December 8, 1923 in Mobley, Arkansas, to Willie and Cordie (Mobley) Lewallen. Cecil married Grace Evants on July 4, 1963 at the Russellville Missionary Baptist Church where he pastored for several years. He was a pastor of numerous other churches around Arkansas. Mr. Lewallen was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Gladys Lewallen; seven older brothers, and one older sister. He was a United States Navy Veteran of WW II and a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church of Russellville.
Survivors include his wife, Grace Lewallen of Russellville; a daughter, Donna K. (and Dr. Melvin) Landers of Bluffton; a son, Pastor Phillip (and Stephanie) Lewallen of Nelsonville; grandchildren, Caleb Lewallen and Rachel Lewallen of Nelsonville; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Friday, May 10, 2002 at the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Eddie Rogers. Burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Russellville, under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.
