Leon Akin, 64,of Texarkana, Texas, died Wednesday, October 19,2005, in a San Antonio, Texas, hospital from injuries received in a pipeline construction accident. Mr. Akin was born March 3,1941, in Doddridge, Ark., and had lived in Texarkana all of his life. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, Doddridge, a welder, working in pipeline construction. Survivors include his wife, Rena Carper Akin of Texarkana; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rodney and Debi Akin of Texarkana, Ark., and Darrell and Melody Akin of Doddridge; his mother, Marjorie Akin of Texarkana; one brother and sister-in-law, Al and Doris Akin of Texarkana; one sister and brother-in-law, Avis and Jim Stiles of Doddridge; two granddaughters, Ashley and Jessica Akin of Texarkana; four stepgrandchildren, Chad Jackson of Texarkana, Samantha Bull, Lacy Teer, and Dustin Harris of Texarkana; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.v Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Cornerstone Baptist Church, Union Road, Texarkana, Ark., with the Revs. William V. Garner and Leland Dyuck officiating. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery, under direction of Texarkana Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Saturday. The family will be at their residence. Memorials may be made to: Independence Cemetery Association, Eugene Smith, 3192 MC 8, Fouke, Ark., or to Rocky Mound Cemetery Association, Velma Flanagan, 3600 Old Blackmon Ferry Road, Texarkana, Ark, 71854
