Jesse Herman Humphrey, age 81, a resident of Russellville, died Sunday, March 23, 1997 at Stella Manor Nursing Center at Russellville. He was born on November 16, 1915, at Russellville, to Jess and Ethel Motley Humphrey. He was owner and operator of Humphrey Funeral Service. His affiliations include membership in the Russellville Masonic Lodge 274 F&AM, where he received his 50 year Masonic pin, a founding member of the Pope County Ambulance Board, the Arkansas Funeral Directors Association, the Russellville Noon Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a member of the West Side Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Louie Humphrey.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Dorothy Kate English Humphrey of Russellville; son and daughter-in-law, Jim Bob and Betty Humphrey of Russellville; three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jennifer and James Humphrey all of Russellville; two brothers, Max Humphrey of Lubbock, TX and J. D. Humphrey of Russellville.
Funeral service was March 26 at the Humphrey Chapel officiated by Mr. Bruce Grice and assisted by Rev. Jesse B. Rye. Burial was in Rest Haven Memorial Park at Russellville. Memorials may be made to the Foreign Missions Ministry at West Side Church of Christ. Casket bearers were Bert Page, Jr. Ormond Peters, Dr. Steve Floyd, Glenn Holmes, Don Helm, Don Helms, Bill Grant. Honorary, Dr. Robert Thurlby, Dewey Mallett and former and present employees of Gardner F. H. and Humphrey Funeral Service.
