John Q. Kiser died at his home in the southeast part of town Saturday morning. He was born in Rockingham county, Va. Oct. 13, 1826. He went to California in '49 and has lived in Ohio, Wisconsin and Kansas and came here in 1892. He leaves a wife and three sons and five daughters. Funeral services were held at the cemetery Sunday morning at 9:30 conducted by Rev. C. H. Metts. Mr. Kiser has been a familiar sight to many of our citizens, as for a number of years he has sold green tobacco on our streets, usually making his headquarters down in front of Watkins and Dawkins grocery store.
