Emmett "Gene" Belcher, age 59, of Dover, died Tuesday, January 11, 2005, at his home. A son of Ruby Belcher of Dover and the late Emmitt Belcher, he was born March 25, 1945, in Forrest City, Arkansas. He was retired from the United States Army, and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Rogers-Rye Post # 2283, and Day Star Trinity Assembly of God Church. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a son, Charles "Chuck" Belcher; a granddaughter, Kyra Lindsey; his father-in-law, Hugh Lindsey; his mother-in-law, Vernice Davis; and a brother-in-law, Danny Lindsey. In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife of thirty-seven years, Betty Belcher; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Leslie Lindsey of Dover; three grandchildren: Jason Vaughn, Jessie Lindsey and Angel Belcher, all of Dover; a brother Raymond Belcher of Dover; a brother-in-law, Jimmy Lindsey Sr. of Caglesville; a sister-in-law, Joann Vaughan of Dover; a nephew, Jimmy Lindsey Jr. of Caglesville; a niece, Christy Lindley of Memphis, Tennessee; a grand-nephew, Spencer Lindley of Memphis; a special uncle and aunt, Don and Bobbie Snead of West Memphis, Arkansas; a special friend, Bobby Zachary of Wynne; and a host of cousins and friends.
Graveside service and burial with military honors was held at 2 P.M., Friday, at Rest Haven Memorial Park by Rev. Samuel Young and Harold Davis.
