J. Marion Meason, 82, a resident of Russellville, died Thursday, May 10, 2007, at his home.

He was born April 6, 1925, at Gould, Oklahoma to S. R. and Odessa Johnson Meason. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 101st Airborne Division. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ramona Mitchell; and a brother, Thomas Meason.

Survivors include his wife, Michele Meason of Russellville; four children, Sylvia Brown and her husband Ron of Edmond, Oklahoma, Ted Meason of Howe, Texas, Lynne Knight and her husband Poncho of Russellville, and Lieutenant Commander Michael Meason and his wife Cindy of Lemoore, California; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Connie Meason of Beulah, Colorado, Dean and Caroline Meason of Cannon City, Colorado, and Darryl and Linda Meason of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; an aunt, Naomi "Cricket" Cook of Dallas, Texas; ten grandchildren, Darrin and Adam Brown, Lora Estabrooks, Nicky Meason, Christina Bentley, Brooklyn, Baylee, and Breanna Knight, and Amelia and Audrey Meason; seven great grandchildren, Jacob and Jessen Brown, Noah and Mason Brown, Patrick and Elizabeth Estabrooks, and Gage Meason; and other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2007, at the Shinn Chapel with the Rev. Stephen Davis officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Veteran's of Foreign War, Rogers-Rye Post 2283, will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.

Active pallbearers will be Jim Hardin, John Van Horn, Bobby Turner, Don Dempsey, Vernon Kinchen, and Jim Parker. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Kelly Meyer, Bill Davis, Poncho Knight, Ron Brown, and Wayne and Dean Meason.

Memorials may be made to the Arkansas Sheriffs' Youth Ranches Inc., Post Office Box 3964, Batesville, Arkansas 72503.
