George Swicegood, 83, of Russellville, died Thursday, March 2, 2006 at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center. A son of the late William Franklin and Sarah Jane Thompson Swicegood, he was born October 29, 1922 in Lonoke, Arkansas. He was a former resident of California where he was a ranch hand for B. F. Porter Estate (now Porter Ranch). Upon retirement he moved to Appleton, Arkansas and moved to Russellville in 1989. He was also preceded in death by a son, William Franklin Swicegood; two grandchildren, Robin Renee' Alfaro and Thomas Lee Lombardi; a son-in-law, John Lombardi; and a sister, Lavada Westphal. Survivors include his wife, Jewell Swicegood; a son, Douglas Lee Swicegood of Russellville; two daughters and a son-in-law: Shirley Faye and Randall McGlone and Billie Lombardi, all of Russellville; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Swicegood of Ola; a sister, Faye Jacetzold of Porterville, California; six grandchildren and five grandchildren-in-law: Stephanie Whipple, Joy Lynn and Jonathan Casey, Bobby Ray and Kerrye Swicegood, Cindy and Mike Musgrave and Mark Alfaro, all of Russellville; Janelle Jackson of Mesa, Arizona; and Christina and Robert Reon of Sheridan; seventeen great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces and grand-nephews and grand-nieces.
Funeral will be 10 A.M., Saturday at the Shinn Chapel, officiated by Rev. Bobby Wells. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park, by Shinn Funeral Service.
Active pallbearers will be Danny and Franklin Bounds, Jo Casey, Mike Carrillo, Paul Hall and Donnie Ford. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons and great-grandsons.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 P.M., this evening at the funeral home.

Jewell Swicegood, 87, of Russellville, died Friday, March 25, 2011 at Stella Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born August 23, 1923, in Pope County, to Angelo Douglas and Mary Jane Daily Girardot. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Swicegood; a son, William F. Swicegood; three brothers, including an infant brother, Odell and Coy Lee Girardot and Angelo Douglas Girardot; a son-in-law, John Lombardi; two grandchildren, Tommy Lombardi and Robin R. Alfaro; and a nephew, Larry Girardot.
Survivors include a son, Douglas Lee Swicegood of Russellville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Shirley Faye and Randy McGlone and Billie Georgia Lombardi, all of Russellville; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Shirley Jo and Daniel Lemke of Russellville, and Fern Tuggle of Joplin, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Faye Jacetzold of Greenwood; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Cindy and Mike Musgrave, Christina and Richard Dillinger, Stephanie and Donnie Ford, Bobby and Kerrye Swicegood, Janelle and Lance Murrell, Joylynn Casey, and Mark Alfaro; 18 great-grandchildren, Zachary and Brittney Musgrave, Kegan, John and Katie Reon, Matthew, Isaiah, Ethan and Paul Randall McGlone, Wyatt Ford, Brett Wofford, Jaylen and Aaliyah Casey, Tal and Tynley Swicegood, Michael Fenton and Natalie and Jaycie Jackson; two great-grandchildren, Brayden Zollman and Madison King; and her nephews and nieces and their families, Diana Jacetzold, Carolyn Hiatt, Lisa Hall, Franklin Lee and Danny Lee Bounds, LaLana Pack, Lamont and Landen Tuggle, Tricia Lee, Greg Murphy, Debi Krause and Gary, Sandy and Terry Girardot.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at the Shinn Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Joe Pack. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park, by Shinn Funeral Service, of Russellville.
Great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers: Zachary Musgrave, Kegan and John Reon, and Paul Randall, Isaiah and Ethan McGlone.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday evening at the funeral home.
