Leonard Leroy Barnes, 82, of Pottsville, died Thursday, April 28, 2005 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville. The son of George and Alma (Startzell) Barnes, he was born December 5, 1922 in Pottsville, Pennsylvania. He was a United States Air Force Veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Air Force after 24 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Louise Barnes and was also preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by a son, Ronnie Barnes of Joppa, Maryland; three sisters, Betty Duckett and husband Elmer of Fairfield, California, Shirley Burgess of Bangor, Maine, and Faye Stalter of Baltimore, Maryland; and one brother-in-law, Dee Beavers of Houston, Texas.
Funeral will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, May 4, 2005 at Humphrey Chapel with Minister Elmer W. Duckett officiating. Burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park at Russellville, by Humphrey Funeral Service. Full military honors will be provided by Rogers-Rye Post 2283 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
