Jewell Inez Bowden, age 96, of Little Rock, formerly of Russellville, departed this earth to be with her Lord on Monday, February 4, 2008 at The Greenbriar on Stagecoach. A daughter of the late Fred Thompson and Hattie Mae Vick Dollar, she was born June 14, 1911 in Russellville. She was the widow of Dallas Bowden, and was also preceded in death by two children, Clarence Bowden of Russellville, and June E. Bowden Bagley of Alexander; and a sister, Mildred Martin Lawrence of Little Rock. She is survived by her granddaughter, Darlene Bagley of Little Rock, and an adopted granddaughter, Shari Bryan of Little Rock; three other grandchildren and some great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Sybil Lowe of North Little Rock; and various nephews, nieces and cousins.

Mrs. Bowden was a long time member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She and Dallas were married seventy years when her husband passed away. She was a homemaker and assisted her husband with his starter and alternator rebuilding shop in Russellville. Mrs. Bowden had been an active member of a local quilting circle in Russellville. She was a tremendous cook and loved helping her husband with the enormous vegetable garden they raised every year, from which she canned and prepared a multitude of food. She was an accomplished seamstress. Mrs. Bowden was an avid domino player, even up until her death. She grew up during the depression and, as a result, she understood the value of family and the simpler things in life.

A special "thank you" goes to Pamela Prescott and the staff of Greenbriar Assisted Living Center of Little Rock. Mrs. Bowden had resided there during the last two years of her life. The Greenbriar staff helped her family care for Mrs. Bowden and showed her the love and respect a grandmother deserves.

The graveside service and entombment in the mausoleum of Rest Haven Memorial Park in Russellville will be at 1 P.M. on Friday, February 8, 2008, officiated by the Rev. Steve Mosley. Arrangements are by Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 1200 North Arkansas Avenue, Russellville, Arkansas 72801; or the Pulaski County Humane Society of Little Rock, 14600 Colonel Glenn Road, Little Rock, Arkansas 72210.
