REV. H. N. RUMLEY
Reverend H. N. Rumley, "Uncle Henry" as he is generally known, fell to sleep with Jesus, Thursday night, January 5, at 11:35, at the h ome of his daughter, Mrs. Will Archer, with Jessie Rumley the only other child present.
Uncle Henry was 88 years, one month and one day old. When only four years old he came here with his parents and other brothers and sisters who have all passed away with the exception of one sister, Malissia Smith 89.
His father, Carrol Rumley and family moved to Owls Cove in November 1854 and remained until Henry grew to be a young man. He then homesteaded in Van Buren and Sear cy Counties where he lived the remainder of his life. He was converted at age 18 in 1867 and was licensed to preach July 28, 1876.
Uncle Henry came to this county in an ox wagon and ferried the river at Batesville. He was married twice. The first to Mary Hatchett, December 22, 1870, to whom six children were born, two now survive, Dr. J. C. of Stigler, Oklahoma, who was present at burial, and Jessie of here. His second marriage was to Sarah Margaret Garey, January 30, 1887. To them seven children were born, six of whom survive. Those present at burial were, Mrs. Mae Archer, whom he made his home with, Mrs. Elsia Hardin of Chelsea, Oklahoma and Mrs. Donie [Dovie] Holland, St. Louis, Missour i. Those who were unable to be present were Morton Rumley, San Pedro, Califor nia, Mrs. Frances Kinser, Claremore, Oklahoma and Noah Rumley of San Jose, Cali fornia all of whom he leaves to mourn his departure. He leaves 25 grandchildr en and several great-grandchildren besides a number of friends and other relati ves.
He was laid to rest Saturday at 2:00 in the Dennard cemetery by the Mason ic order. Reverend Claude Jenkens and Shell of Leslie conducting the services . Coffman Funeral Home of Marshall had charge of the burial.
We wish to than k Mr. Coffman, also Masonic Lodge for their kindness and help in the burial of our dear father. His children.
