SPRINGDALE — Homer J. Smithson, 92, of Springdale, died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011,

He was born Feb. 27, 1919, in Marshall, Ark., the son of John T. and Susan Harris Smithson. He retired from Ferguson Country Store in 1983, served in the United States Army and was a prisoner-of-war in Germany.

He attended Calvary Church in Springdale and his church-life consisted of deacon,, Sunday School teacher, Sunday School superintendent. He loved spending time with his family and lived his life for them.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy L. Smithson, on Jan. 23, 2011; parents; four brothers; and three sisters.

Survivors include his children, Bruce Smithson and wife, Rose, and Enos Smithson and wife, Janette, all of Springdale, Ellis Smithson and wife, Eva, of Greenbrier, Ark., Carol Majors and husband, Bobby, of Judsonia, Ark., and Wrenita Abbott and husband, Joe, of Springdale; 15 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at Beard's Funeral Chapel, with the Revs. Clark Snow and Roy Grinder officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, 203 Park St., Springdale, AR 72764.

SPRINGDALE — Daisy Smithson, 84, of Springdale, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011, in Fayetteville. She was born June 29, 1926, in Parthenon, Ark., the daughter of Will and Lillie Jones Henderson.

She was a homemaker and attended Calvary Church in Springdale. She will remembered as a beloved mother, granny and great-granny.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; and one brother.

She is survived by her husband, Homer Smithson of the home, to whom she married Aug. 7, 1952; her children, Bruce Smithson and wife, Rose, and Enos Smithson and wife, Janette, all of Springdale, Ellis Smithson and wife, Eva, of Greenbrier, Carol Majors and husband, Bobby, of Judsonia, and Wrenita Abbott and husband, Joe, of Springdale; 15 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, at Beard's Funeral Chapel, with Pastors Clark Snow and Roy Grinder officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Arkansas Children's Hospital.
