SPRINGDALE — Johnny Lee Pierce, age 65, of Springdale, died July 17, 2010, in Springdale. He was born July 3, 1945, in Fallsville, Ark., the son of Aubrey and Lillie Patton Pierce.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and most of all his two grandsons who were his pride and joy. He proudly served his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War from Sept. 8, 1965, to July 16, 1967. During this service, he earned a Combat Infantryman Badge, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Sharpshooter (Rifle M-14), National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal. He was a life member of the North American Hunting Club, the VFW and the Moose Lodge of Springdale. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Odell Pierce, Harold Pierce and James Pierce.

Mr. Pierce is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Hazel Shatswell Pierce, whom he married on Sept. 9, 1967; one daughter, Tina Reinert and her husband Mark, whom he loved as his own son; two grandsons, Cameron and Brett; three sisters, Geraldine Pruitt and husband Oscar, Nita Meadows, and Jean Brasel and husband Dennis; four nieces and two nephews and several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins and numerous friends.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Stewart Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at the funeral home.
