SPRINGDALE — Lawrence (Larry) Woods, 80, of Springdale died Oct. 14, 2011, a Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. He was born Dec. 26, 1930, in Fordyce, Ark., to Lawrence and Flora Chambers Woods Sr. He was a United States Army veteran serving during the Korean War and was a member of Elmdale Baptist Church and Springdale Kiwanis Club where he was past president. Larry was recruited by Sam Walton as one of the founding managers with Walmart. He managed the local Ben Franklin Store and other local Walmart stores.

He is a preceded in death by a sister Marcine Carter.

He is survived by his wife Nelda Russell Woods whom he married April 8, 1956. One daughter, Dana Woods of The Woodlands, Texas, and one sister, Imogene Watson of Pine Bluff.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, at Elmdale Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Shaw officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery with Military Honors by Bella Vista Post 9063.

Visitation will be Monday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale.

Pallbearers are Bob McCrackin, John Franke, Howard Griffin, Don Offenbacker, Harvey Bowman and Larry Rogers. Honorary pallbearers are members of Springdale Kiwanis Club and Adult Six Men Sunday School Class.
