BLAIR, Hester Ann JONES - Mrs. John Blair of Decatur died at her home there at 12:30 Wednesday. Her death was sudden and unexpected for she had maintained her usual alertness of mind and body throughout the morning. She was 83 years old and had lived in the Decatur community for about 60 years. A native of Tennessee Mrs. Blair was born in Philadelphia, Tenn. in 1852. Her maiden name was Hester Ann Jones. Her father had come to Tennessee from Georgia. Mrs. Blair grew up in Philadelphia and taught school in that community. It was not until after her marriage to John Blair that she left her native state. She and her husband came to Arkansas with a party of Tennesseans including her sister, Mrs. Caroline Baxter, and family and her brother, Thos. Jones. There were four wagons in the train and all who came in them settled in Benton County although in different parts. The party arrived in the fall of the year. The funeral service will be held at the Methodist Church in Decatur Friday afternoon at 2:30. Mrs. Blair is the last of her family. Her husband, John Blair, died twelve or more years ago. Her only daughter, Mrs. Margaret Houston died in Arizona two years ago. She is survived by four sons: John Blair, Pittsburgh, Pa.; Dan Blair of Osage who resides on the old Alden homestead; Sam Blair of Montana and Jim Blair of Gary, Ill. All came to attend the funeral with the exception of Jim who is ill in a hospital. There are also several nieces and nephews including Mrs. J.M. Jackson and Mrs. E.B. Jackson of this place.
