Bill Dickey Bates 69, of Choctaw, Arkansas entered his heavenly home on December 14, 2008. He was born in Choctaw to Jess C. and Marie Bates on October 31, 1939. He graduated from Clinton State Vocational Training School in 1957, he served his country in the Army four 4yrs as a military police officer and as a guard for President Eisenhower’s helicopter. He served as a police officer on the Little Rock police department for 18yrs. He was preceded in death by his parents Jess and Marie Bates, his brother Paul Bates and his first daughter Colleen Marie Bates.
He is survived by three sisters Fern Floyd of Choctaw, Jessie Pruss of North Little Rock and Johnny & husband Jimmie Golden of Sherwood; brother Joe Bates & wife Karen of Choctaw; his son Todd Bates & wife Ginger of Hot Springs; daughters Brenda Huggins & husband Brian of Clinton and Judy Gilbert & husband Don Layton of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren Kylie, Taylor and Matthew Bates & Uzi and Sledge Layton.
He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather who loved the Lord, laugh and life in general. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Clinton. He will be dearly missed by his family and his many friends.
Visitations are 6-8pm Tuesday and funeral services are 1pm Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at the Clinton Assembly of God Church. Arrangements provided by Roller McNutt Funeral Home of Clinton.
