Helen Edwards, born August 24, 1937, was the daughter of the late Mr. William (Red) Dickerson and Mrs. Lillie Mae Wright and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sam and Cotie Wright. She was the second of seven children, five of whom preceded her in death.

Helen received her formal education at the Conway School District, Conway, Ar and was a graduate of Pine Street High School. She also attended Margaret's Hair Academy where she received her Arkansas Cosmetology License.

Helen worked diligently to support her children. She began her culinary career at Tommy's Cafe where she worked as apprentice to her mother. She later refined her culinary skills at Conway Regional Hospital where she continued her apprenticeship under her mother, "Big Mama", Lillie Mae Wright. She demonstrated mastery of her culinary skills in the kitchen of Greater Pleasant Branch Baptist Church. She retired from Baldwin Piano Company and later from Conway School Food Services.

She accepted Christ at an early age and united in membership with Greater Pleasant Branch Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. J.R. Raynor, where she served as chairperson of the Kitchen Committee and a member of the Usher's Ministry for 48 years.

In 1957, she united in holy matrimony with the late Mr. George Thomas Edwards and to this union five children were born.

On Saturday, July 20th, Helen, while sitting in her personal chair, taking her daily nap, woke up in the arms of Jesus leaving to celebrate her homegoing; Three daughters: Sandra Kellybrew of Russellville, AR; Odessa (Ralph) Calhoun of Memphis, TN; and Debra Carter of Conway, AR; Two Sons: George (Charlene) Thomas Edwards II and Kenneth Wayne Edwards of Conway, AR; 15 Grandchildren, 14 Great-Grandchildren; One sister, Della Campbell-Moorehead of Gardenia, CA; one-half sister, Linda Fay Johnson of Conway, AR; and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 2 pm Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Greater Pleasant Branch Baptist Church, 601 Spruce Street, Conway, AR. Visitation 6-7 pm Friday, July 26, 2013 at the church. Interment Robinson Cemetery.
