FOWLER, Ernest - Ernest Fowler died yesterday noon at 12:15 at the home of his mother, Mrs. W.H. Fowler, in the south part of town. Funeral services are being held at the residence this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Elder T.J. Keller. The death of Mr. Fowler has been hourly expected for several days as he had been steadily growing weaker and weaker. He had been failing ever since his return from Texas a little before Christmas and the physicians had been unable to give the sorrowing mother and family any hope for his recovery. Ernest Fowler was the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Fowler and was born in Rogers March 21, 1883. During the summer of 1897 he fell under a Frisco freight train while playing near the track east of his home and lost his right foot. While this injury was somewhat of a handicap, he was a vigorous young fellow and was for several years captain of the "second" ball team, officiating as catcher. After the death of his father several years ago he became a member of the furniture firm of Mrs. W.H. Fowler & Son, and in spite of his youth took his place among our successful business men. Owing to his failing health he was forced last year to give up the work. Every possible remedy was tried but consumption had made too heavy inroads upon his system and the trip to Texas last fall was made too late to be of any benefit. Courteous and agreeable in his life, beloved by all his associates, and the pride of his mother and sister, the death of Ernest Fowler is a sore bereavement to many. The death of a young man just as he is entering the gateway of manhood is always sad; when the happiness of an entire family is centered upon him, it is doubly so. The Democrat joins with the entire community in extending sympathy to the sorrowing family.
