Obituary
from Van Buren County Democrat Feb. 11, 1937
C. L. Treadaway was born at Choctaw August 15, 1864, and died at his home in Shirley at 12:30 o'clock Thursday, February 4, 1937, aged 72 years, 5 months and 19 days. Interment was in the Huie cemetery Saturday morning with services at the grave being conducted by Rev. Claude Jenkins, pastor of the Clinton Baptist Church, assisted by Elder E. E. Burnett.
Mr. Treadaway had been in failing health for three years, suffering from a stomach and kidney ailment, but bore his sufferings with fortitude, only waiting till the great reaper with one stroke of the sickle--should change his physical agony into peace, ease and repose into silent mortality. He was confined to his home two months. He had been a member of the Christian church for 18 years.
When one suffers a long time before death it would seem that all should consider it best and rather feel relieved that physical agony had ceased, and a soul was at rest in a better world, but there is that sympathetic nature in every true heart that endears it to those afflicted that makes separation doubly hard to bear. And so it is with those who were near and dear to this man. Bur while they are now bowed with grief, yet is is but temporary, for the same fate awaits us all, and the time is but short when we, too will be called to pass through the "valley of the shadow of death."
Mr. Treadaway was a native of this county and was widely known for his sunny disposition and musical talent. His marriage to Miss Mollie Stobaugh, daughter of the late James Stobaugh of Choctaw, took place September 16, 1886.
Of his immediate family, he is survived by his wife, Mrs.Mollie Treadaway; three sons, J M and Charles of Lexa, Ark, and Irl R of Choctaw; two daughters, Lovye, now Mrs. W S Stephens of Choctaw, and Mrs. Lois Graham of Shawnee, Okla.; two sisters, Mrs. M Ward of Choctaw and Mrs. Nan Cullum of near Bee Branch; eighteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
