PFC US Army
World War II
January 17, 1914 - July 22, 1996
He was a son of John and Mary Elizabeth Rowland Richey and the husband of Myrtle Singleton Richey.
From "My Country Called" by Arnold Wright: "I was drafted into the Army in March, 1944, and was sent to Camp Robinson, Arkansas, for my basic training. I left Benton, a wife and three children, and was sent overseas to the island of New Guinea. During this time we were hit with two Japanese bombing attacks. I was attached to the 4169th Quartermaster Depot, and we were shipped to Leyte in the Philippines. My job on Leyte was guarding the Japanese POWs on work details. When I had enough points, I was discharged from the Army in March, 1945.
