Eugene Carl 'Buster' Shipman, 82, of Fifty Six entered into rest on September 6, 2010 in Calico Rock.
He was born June 20, 1928 in Fifty Six to William and Lillie (Balentine) Shipman.
He was a member of Fifty Six Missionary Baptist Church since July 17, 1988, a member of the Volunteer fire department over 30 years and worked for the U.S. Forestry Service for 38 years. He was a good father, grandfather, brother, uncle and brother-in-law.
He is survived by daughter, Judy Rector; sons Anthony Shipman of Mtn. View and Herbert Shipman; three sisters, Alma Lea Sutterfield and husband Frank, Betty Rae Hampton of Fifty Six and Meladean Petersen and husband Gene of Mtn. View; eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many nephews, nieces and host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents William and Lillie Shipman; three brothers, Verlin, Merlin and Jewel Shipman and three sisters, Zelnora Shipman, Ina Pendergraft and Iva McCook; a brother-in-law, Hubert Hampton and two sisters-in-law, Verlie Shipman and Dovie Lea Shipman and one grandson.
Visitation is 1 - 2 p.m., Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Fifty Six Missionary Baptist Church, Fifty Six, Arkansas.
Funeral service is 2 p.m., Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Fifty Six Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Robb Arnold and Alan Pogue officiating. Music: Thurman Bullard, Pat Balentine and Fifty Six Baptist Church Choir. Interment will be in Fifty Six Cemetery, Fifty Six, Arkansas. Pallbearers are Ronnie Anderson, Charles Lee Brown, Darrell Gosser, Thurman Bullard, Ron Hotard, Joel Phillips, L.J. Treat and Mike Cartwright. Honorary pallbearers are White River Healthcare at Calico Rock Nurses and Staff especially Andra, Paula, William, Sara and Rachel.
